Oye! I don't think I can handle much more in the way of travel. It's about all I've done for the last month. Lis and I went from CA to TX to visit her family and take care of wedding stuff in the middle of Dec. Then we went from TX to MN to visit my family at the end of Dec. We went from MN back to CA for a few days. Then there was a death in the family, and so we drove from CA back to TX. Then we turned around and drove back. And then a few days later, I find myself on a plane back to Austin for work stuff. For a guy who hates to go anywhere, I sure go places!
Outside of traveling, there's not that much new in Aaronland. Wedding plans are coming along, but still very stressful. I can see why marriage is forever -- I know I certainly don't want to go through this crap a second time. I'm not certain I'll survive the *first* time!
I've been feeding my video game addiction nicely. Lis' little brother loaned me a few games which have kept me very happy. I've been playing Zelda on the Wii, but got stuck at an annoying part which kind of turned me off from the game. So I switched over to Bio Shock on the 360 (also a loan from Lawrence), which is an *awesome* game. Scary as hell (like Resident Evil 2 scary!), and really fun. After a few days of doing nothing but playing that game, I beat it. Not certain that I'd spend too much time replaying it; the value just isn't there. So instead, I picked Oblivion back up. I never finished the Shivering Isles content that I bought, so that's what's been occupying me lately. While I'm in Austin however, I have to contend myself with Age of Mythology on my laptop. Sad day, right?
My condolences regarding your family member. We went through the same last year, as you may remember.
I got some goodies for my Wii at Christmas... Link's Crossbow Training (w/zap), Super Mario Galaxy, and Carnival Games. Been playing the first two more than the last. Yesterday for the first time in awhile, I played some Halo on my Mac... man I swear there are bots for that game now. But for now, I'm still content with Age of Empires III. It simply rocks.
Busy busy
I got a new carbon fibre pool cue for Christmas and have been playing a bunch. Haven't broken down and bought a table yet but I can feel the urge.
And for giggles we go out and light up one of our slash piles :)
We just picked up Carcassonne and Lost Cities. I bet you and Lize would enjoy them while decompressing. We picked ours up at TimeWellSpent.org
Lis, that is. :-(
I'm more of a retro-gamer, myself.
I've got my own MAME Cabinet with a full .86 collection minus CHD's (plus a few more from higher versions). Made the cabinet myself and modeled it after Taito's Elevator Action cabinet (1983).
I've also got almost full sets of Atari2600/5200/7800, NES, SNES SMS & Genesis games at my disposal. My next major project will be finding a Mini-ITX case I like and making a classic console box for the TV with every console game I've got. I'll probably be using RB to make my own frontend (Kiosk) cause I can't find one I like :-)
